Our Weekend Workshops
We currently run three weekend faceting workshops each year through the aid of our members. These usually fall in March, July and September and allow people to cut their first gemstone or improve their faceting skills. We currently provide two tuition options: general or one to one (described further below).
During our weekend workshops we use our group-owned faceting machines, as well as other machines kindly loaned by our members to teach people on. We have a limited number of places for those without the use of their own machine, so its always best to message your interest early to secure a spot.
General Tuition
For the two days you will be supervised by an experienced faceter who will instruct you on how to use the machine and follow the cutting instructions. The tutor will also be assisting others who are also signed up for general tuition, some of whom may have brought their own machines, rather than on an individual basis.
One to One Tuition
You will receive dedicated One to One tuition with an experienced faceter. You will receive the necessary tuition to enable you to complete the cutting of a gemstone over the two days for beginners, or specialist help for those cutting more advanced designs or gem rough.
Prices
Our prices are for the full weekend whether you use a machine provided by us or use your own machine. This includes a piece of gem rough to cut (usually quartz) and a choice from several gemstone faceting diagrams. For our group machines and the machines that are loaned, we have a selection of cutting discs and other necessary equipment to help facet a stone.
